We picked up this Louis the 16th style 3 drawer small chest at auction and Marie loved the lines of the piece. But like every piece, Marie needed to let the piece speak to her about what would make it fabulous. When you are doing a piece to put into the shop as opposed to a custom order for a customer, you can take the time to make it your vision; and that’s exactly what Marie did. The piece was in great shape with no damage so it was mostly the painting, staining, transforming the handles and finally sealing the piece.
Marie used Dixie Belle Silk Smokey Mountain for the body, Dixie Belle No Pain Gel Stain Golden Ash for the top, legs and drawer insides; Redesign With Prima Opal Magic Acrylic Rose Gold Paint on the drawer fronts and sides (Eastern Fountain Stick & Style stencil roll on the drawer sides) and Sparkling Metallic Flakes for the handles. She finished the piece with Dixie Belle Clear Coat Satin and added Gator Hide sealer just for the top for extra protection.
The best thing about this project is a customer who was one of Marie’s first custom orders after she opened our store is the new owner.
