Tchotchkes For Me

Merry Christmas everyone! We hope you are enjoying the season celebrating the birth of Christ. And while we won’t have a white Christmas here in Athens (more like a very wet and rainy one), we can still celebrate like an old time Christmas carol. 

We’ve been working on some special projects for customers for Santa to deliver. One of them is this sweet bassinet that was our customer’s as a child and the customer wanted it refreshed and painted for the arrival of her first grandchild.  The wicker was very dried out, it had some broken pieces, needed a really good cleaning as well as new wheels. Marie did her magic and it looks totally remarkable thanks to her talent and Dixie Belle Boss, Silk Salt Water, White Lightening and Howdy Do Hemp oil. We can’t wait for the customer to pick it up this afternoon.

Speaking of Boss and new things for 2024, our cat Weener was looking over the talking points this morning for a new product for Dixie Belle: Bonding Boss.  Bonding Boss is the result of the marriage between Slick Stick and Boss and is great for a wide range of surfaces including glass, laminates, metal, concrete, walls, furniture and cabinets. It comes in 3 color options that will be perfect for your specific needs: white for lighter colors; gray for medium tones like yellow, red, and other darker colors; and clear is for dark colors and distressing. Each quart covers approximately 160 square feet.

Just clean your project as usual with White Lightening for Dixie Belle chalk mineral paint, Pristine Clean for Silk paints, or Terra Clean for Terra Clay paints and then use the Bonding Boss. You can use a brush, roller, or sprayer (if you use a sprayer, you MUST clean it as soon as you are done to prevent clogging the sprayer).

Bonding Boss comes in 8oz, 16oz, and 32oz and will be in our store the end of January. Stop in for more information or a product demonstration.

Now, there is something HUGE coming up in January with Silk paints: there will be 7 new colors that will be in our store the end of January. Dixie Belle will announce the new colors early January on their website (and we’ll also let you know as soon as we know).

Also for 2024, we’ll be adding new classes to our teaching schedules here in the store. In addition to our classes for furniture painting and transfer/stenciling/schmear painting, we will be adding classes for WoodUbend products, patina spray and paint, and using glazes/waxes.

We are planning on being in the store every Monday, Friday and Saturday starting the beginning of January to meet and collaborate with you as well as do product demonstrations. You can also schedule a time with us for the rest of the week to fit your schedule.

In the beginning of December, we received some great news for our store: Tchotchkes in Barbara’s Corner was named as one of the Top 100 Dixie Belle stores in all of the U.S. Pretty amazing for a store in a town with only 14,000 residents, but with the training and inspiration provided by Dixie Belle, we’re hoping to do even better next year. And of course, we thank you our customers for any and all success we have as a Dixie Belle retailer.
