Tchotchkes For Me

Long time, no blog. It’s getting close to Thanksgiving and Christmas is right around the corner, so there is lots going on in the store.

Here is a picture of our paint party from October where we did a German schmear on one side of a wooden pumpkin and stencils on the other side.

Our last paint party of the year will be November 18th at 11am here in our store in beautiful downtown Athens. We’ll be doing things a little different this class; you can paint, apply transfers, stencils, or different finish techniques with a Christmas theme on a wooden rounder. We really hope we see you, just let us know via text or email if you’d like to attend.

Right now, we’re working on some custom pieces for customers and this piece which is for us; it’s an antique French mahogany day bed that will be for when our granddaughter Emily visits. Right now the bed parts have been cleaned with White Lightening, sanded and problem areas filled then sanded smooth, and we’re applying white Boss to prevent any bleed through. Once we’re done, Marie will paint it with Fluff and the scroll work highlighted with gold gilding wax, sealed with Clear Coat satin and then Gator Hide as a final finish. We’ll post more pics when it’s done.

Take some time during the holiday season to do something fun, enjoy the time with family and friends, and above all remember whatever’s good for your soul…. do that!
